Issue #529 - Sunday, June 5, 2022
Dear Fellow Grower,
In today's issue...
- Growing your cannabis outdoors is pretty neat, but I'm a big fan of growing my homegrown inside the house. But when you grow indoors, where should your cannabis live? In the bathroom? Closet? Basement? We've seen grower's use all of these and even weirder options. Today's article will give you a clear answer to a very important question that might seem trivial before you think about it..
- Who else loves big buds? Get the latest update to the side-by-side flowering defoliation experiment. The buds are starting to seem bigger in one tent than the other!
- When it comes to picking out "Trophy Pics of the Week", I love a pristine flowering plant, but I also love a wonky, weird plant just as much. But I also love seeing a first-timer get a plant to harvest. You know what? I think I just love any interesting picture when cannabis is involved. Luckily I have a
steady stream from our fantastic readers!

Location, location, location. Just like in real estate, when growing cannabis the location is key. If you put your marijuana garden in the wrong place it may add unnecessary work and introduce potential stealth concerns. Choose the right place to grow and you’ll be rewarded with happy plants and awesome yields with the least
work from you.
Let’s look at your options. What places do you have available in your home to grow? This tutorial will help you figure out the best place to grow your cannabis plants indoors. Taking a little time to plan your grow now can make things a lot easier for you down the road!
Here are some the most common places growers put their plants:
- Closet
- Bedroom (in a grow tent)
- Spare Room
- Spare Bathroom (easy access to water and a drain)
- Garage
- Cellar or Basement
- Attic
Now that you’re thinking about the possibilities, let’s help you narrow it down to the best location for you...

Big fat buds! – June 3, 2022
But are significantly fatter compared to last week! It’s been 48 days since I initiated 12/12 and I expect they will be ready to harvest by day 70 (though the enormous Platinum Cookies plant on the left in each tent may take longer by the looks of their buds).
Natural tent (these plants were not defoliated)
I’ve noticed the buds at the top of the natural tent seem bigger/wider than the top buds in the other tent, but are shorter (go less far down into the plant). I wonder what that will end up meaning at harvest when it comes to yields. Will the fatter or longer buds end up yielding more?
Defoliation tent with LEDs (plants were defoliated right after initiating 12/12 and again 3 weeks later)

"Hey Nebula, love your article every week. I’ve been growing in coco for about 2 years now a good addition to it is 25% worm castings if you go organic it helps with the micro nutrients 👍. Have a day"
~Ken
Plants love worm casting (poop). It's great when added dry or when it's made into an aerated tea. ~Sirius

"Hi, thank you for all the work that all of you put into maintaining GWE! I've learned a lot from GWE for my first cannabis crop.
I appreciate your objection to offensive names for strains, 'Dirty Girl' and 'Cat Piss', etc., are immediate turnoffs for me when I order seeds. I want positive, uplifting names for strains!!"
~Mike
Agreed! The cannabis industry has cleaned up its act a bit since we first started growing and it's nice to not see as many wildly offensive strain names. Some were so bad I couldn't even list them here in good conscience!
Just to be clear, I'm not against fun, crazy, or downright weird stain names. In fact, I love nutty strain names like "Hubba Bubba Smelloscope" or "Purple Ghost Candy". ~Sirius
"Thanks for the helpful articles every week 👍"
~John
Thanks for reading them every week 👍 ~Sirius

"Runtz OG at 63 days of flower. Beautiful dark purple leaves. Grown indoors in a 4x4 tent from seed in promix. It was a very cool strain to watch develop. Harvest in 3 days. Lots of cloudy white tri-combs."
~Just4fun
Looks great so far; make sure to send us harvest pics, too! 🌳 ~Sirius

"These are Afghan clones from cloner to weeks 1&2 of veg I had 20 out of 24 make it I used dip’n grow and added voodoo juice from advanced nutrients they were in the cloner for 3 weeks.
The plant is now in week 3 of flower, it’s in coco on a flood and drain table running Sensi advanced nutrient. I’ll keep y’all updated in the following weeks."
~Abran
Lol, you already knew I was going to ask for future updates. Can't wait to see them! ~Sirius
"Thanks for all the tips for a first timer.
Maybe not a complete success but definitely a W in my book.
Strain wise big one I call rego and the stunted one which I did in transplant tearing the main root that one is named "Good Good". I followed your suggestions as best could while only reading instructions."
~E Z Money
You did a good job, especially for a first outing. Definitely a W. 🏆 ~Sirius
"Sirius Fourside is right. Hydroponics is the way to go judging from my recent trimmings. I tried all the other methods in my grow tent and found hydro to be the best for me. Plants grow fast and huge!"
~Steve
Those leaves are absolutely enormous! I don't want to give anyone nightmares, but if those leaves were hands, the plant would become the owner of the house. ~Sirius
It's Sunday, Laugh At A Scammer!

Scammers are still scamming, but let's just have a laugh at one today.
Scammers haven't taken a break and they won't in the foreseeable future. Today though, let's just have a hearty laugh at this guy and let it serve as a reminder of the craziness of scammers.
Also, it's not a bad idea to get a camera or two for your car.
Remember when it comes to buying seeds: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone
call, email, etc.).
