Issue #530 - Sunday, June 12, 2022
Dear Fellow Grower,
In today's issue...
- Many of you haven't started growing weed yet, and reasons include the cost, space limits, or concerns about heat and electricity. So I perfected a mini grow system that consistently produces amazing quality bud and doesn't give off much heat or use much electricity. After multiple successful grows, I created today's tutorial to show you how to achieve the same results. The best part is this little setup costs just
$300 to start growing, and after setup the tiny 65W LED is almost free to run!
- Multiple grow journal updates! 4 of 6 plants in my defoliation side-by-side grow journal are getting harvested! I also shared pictures for my recent mini grow harvest (which is actually what inspired today's tutorial!)
- For the artists among you... we were hoping you could help us with something!
- You guys went nuts sending in trophy pics this week and that made it really hard to pick them out. Do I showcase big bud pics? Give some love to newbie growers? I think the real trick is to get a nice mixture of experienced and new growers so there's a range of plants to enjoy. Check out the pictures in today's "Trophy Pics of the Week" and I bet you'll feel the same.,

How to Grow Cannabis for $300 in this 65W LED Mini Grow Kit (up to 3 oz)
|
|
Ready to start growing weed for only $300? This tutorial uses the HLG 65 V2 4000k LED in a 3' tall mini grow tent to produce up to 3 oz of top-shelf cannabis per harvest (at 65W it's almost free to run this grow light after set up).
This is my absolute favorite grow light for micro-growing because it produces great bud quality and yields, while the unique 4000k spectrum helps plants stay short. Essentially, this setup makes a lot of big buds on a little plant. I've included a complete supplies list with Amazon links, plus easy step-by-step instructions on how to get set up and achieve these results.
Today's easy growing tutorial is everything you need to get started and get to a bountiful cannabis harvest!

Here is a bud from that plant at harvest (harvested last week, lab results coming soon!). The Pacific Punch buds came out dense and sparkly like buds always do in this setup!
Making Free Stickers, Mugs, and Other Merch...
|
|
Hey growers,
I was hoping you all might be able to help us with something... Sirius and I would like to create some GWE merch (tshirts, stickers, mugs, hats, etc.). We may sell them down the road, but mostly we want to give them away to thank our supporters and newsletter subscribers in giveaways or contests.
Unfortunately, Sirius and I are not artists. But I know a ton of you are!
Do you know of any artist (yourself included!) that makes weed-related designs?
If you do, please reply to this email with any artists you like, your own art, or just examples of art or merchandise you've seen that you think is cool. We'll take it into consideration as we design some cool goodies for you!
Side-by-Side Flowering Defoliation Grow Journal Update
|
|
4 of the 6 plants are ready to harvest! – June 8, 2022
Big things happening this week!
The Runtz and Wildberry plants are getting harvested this week, and then I'll allow the two Platinum Cookies plants to grow a few more weeks so the buds are fully mature when I harvest them.
One difference I’ve noticed so far between the tents is that the top buds in the non-defoliated tent seem to be fatter overall than the tops of the buds in the defoliated tent. However, the buds in the defoliated tent go way further down into the plant. It makes me wonder which tent will end up yielding more in the end, and which will end up with better quality buds overall.
Natural tent (top buds appear shorter but fatter)
Defoliated tent (top buds appear longer but thinner)
I start getting really excited when we get this close to the end of an experiment. I have learned a lot from this grow already, and I can’t wait to share everything I’ve learned with you after I get all the results (yields, cannabinoids, terpenes, density, smoke tests, etc.).
Stay tuned for the next update! I expect there to be 4 fewer plants when you see pictures next week.

I'm calling all of my weed "Electric Lettuce" from now on 🤣. Also, that's a great idea!
Hey growers, what's a funny strain name that got stuck in your head? ~Sirius

Don't Let A Scammer Fool You!
|
|
This upset Romulan is learning the hard way
|
Scams can come from anywhere!
In the scene above from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the guy being scammed is actually a bit of a scammer himself. Meanwhile, the person scamming him isn't normally a scammer, but is totally scamming in this case.
The point is that even good guys and gals can turn to scamming if they're desperate enough, so it's up to all of us to stay alert to scams even if the source seems trustworthy. Remember, you don't want to be the guy in picture above, unless we're talking purely about his haircut and eyebrows.
Remember when it comes to buying seeds: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone
call, email, etc.).

Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, coco, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
