Issue #534 - Sunday, July 10, 2022
Dear Fellow Grower,
In today's issue...
- Clones are a fantastic way to preserve genetics you love while also saving money on buying the same seeds over and over again. But how can you keep making clones without a crazy operation? With a little Bonsai Mother plant! They're pretty easy to take care of, they make tons and tons of clones, and they're just plain cool. It's like having a charming, dead-silent pet that makes weed plants for
free.
- Check out some sparkly purple Platinum Cookies buds in my grow tent that are almost ready for harvest!
- This weeks "Trophy Pics of the week" is very green. Technically, they're green in that they're grown in energy efficient ways. But I meant these pics are more plant than bud and I'm definitely getting a good vibe from it. Check out the pics below and feel you blood pressure drop a few points by the last photo.

How to Create a Bonsai Mother for UNLIMITED Clones

by Oldtimer1 (foreword and adaptation by Nebula Haze)

This tutorial is a condensed version of the classic “How to Keep a Bonsai Mum” article written by the legendary Oldtimer1. Although the original article was published in 2000, this bonsai training method recently resurfaced and has become popular for hobbyist cannabis
growers without a lot of space. With so many people growing at home these days, this technique is more useful now than ever.
Free Clones Forever! (How do I make clones?) These 8-month-old marijuana bonsai mother plants are based on this tutorial. In addition to the sunny window, a bright lightbulb shines nearby for 14+ hours a day to keep them in the vegetative stage. An
easy and fun way to hold onto genetics! ~Nebula Haze
This tutorial will teach you how to turn a cannabis plant into a bonsai mother (giving you access to unlimited free clones!)

"Your site gladdens me, the sheer volume and professionalism is impressive, and mostly error free. Was thinking recently how your site is an online encyclopedia of hemp, hope you have it all backed up in case of a solar flare, or, more likely, a Russian cyber attack which has much the same effect."
~Peter
I'm being genuine when I say that being called "mostly error free" is one of the biggest compliments you can receive as a blog writer. And for anyone wondering, yes, we have several backups. 👍 ~Sirius

No, thank YOU for taking the time to check out our work 🙏 ~Sirius
"Hi Nebula,
Firstly. Many thanks to you and Sirius for your excellent service to the weed growing fraternity. Going all the way back to Google plus days.
Just read your article on 💥Firecrackers💥 and the importance of decarbing. Now well into my 7th decade in life and with over 40 years of stealth growing weed experience in southern England. Decarbing always caused the most problems at home.
As you know the entire neighbourhood gets a strong waft of roasting weed and the entire house, oven etc all smell of weed for days after the event.
So after years of conducting various trials to reduce that heavenly smell and to pacify senior management (wife) we found a very satisfactory method.
Put dry ground bud into a "roasting bag", seal. Place in preheated oven 120c for 30-45 minutes. Weed decarbed, virtually no smell.
Problem solved. Once again. Thank you both for your sterling efforts."
~Budbusta
Thanks for writing in! We're both big fans of decarbing in roasting bags. We like to leave the weed in the tied up bag afterward until it's needed. For anyone wondering, here's our steps for decarbing in a roasting/oven bag: how to decarb in a bag ~Sirius

Anyone else feel like they want to plant a La-Z-Boy in this greenhouse and listen to some good music? If it wasn't for the heat, it might be nice! ~Sirius

Just look at those chunky colas. You have clearly done a good job of giving each cola a few inches of space and plenty of light. ~Sirius
More Scam Calls Than Real Calls?
|
|
I wish this also broke the scammers phone. Then it might actually be worth it!
|
Smart Phones: The Scammers Best Friend
Even if it's not a regular occurrence for you, I'm sure you've experienced at least one day where you got more calls from scammers than you got from people you know.
The smart phone is a core part in the everyday lives of many people walking the planet. But this amazing device that gives access to information, purchasing power, employment, etc. has also become the best avenue for scammers to try to reach out to you. In fact, most successful scams will begin on a smart phone in one way or another.
If you want to cut scams off before they begin, don't answer calls, texts or emails from numbers/addresses you don't recognize. If you're contacted by a business you trust, but the communication seems suspect, don't respond. Instead, find the information for the company from their official website and contact them directly. Stay safe!
Remember when it comes to buying seeds: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone
call, email, etc.).

- What’s the best size to make a cannabis clone? - It's important to know how to clone, but it's just as important to know when to clone. Too early, and you'll make slow plants for no reason. Too late and you'll have long, lanky clones. But when you get it just right, it's like some kind of awesome plant magic.
-
How to Clone Weed in a Cup of Water (Easy!) - This is the easiest way to clone, bar none. I get the feeling that the person who
discovered it was a lazy grower who just tossed a clipping into some standing water. Whatever way it was discovered, we get to benefit by making clones passively for almost no cost at all!
-
How to Make Cannabis Clones with an Aero Cloner - Making clones in an Aero Cloner is almost as easy as cloning in a cup of water,
except that it comes with an upfront cost and the cost electricity. The benefit? A modern day marvel of plant technology! Learn how you can make way too many clones way too fast and be left freaking out when you realize you don't have homes for them all.
- Main-Lining: Clone Tutorial - You might know a bit about mainlining a cannabis plant, but did you know that
mainlining a clone is significantly different than mainlining a plan from seed? It all comes down to the way the nodes grow. Luckily, Nugbuckets (the inventor of mainlining) already saw this problem coming and made a strategy to deal with it.

Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any. But whether you want to grow in water, coco, or a different medium, we'll show you how easy it can be!"
