How to Make Cannabis Tinctures
|
|
What Is A Tincture? A tincture is a concentrated herbal extract. In the cannabis world, this means it’s an herbal extract that has some of the useful properties of weed. Cannabis tinctures are usually made from alcohol but they can also be made with glycerin to skip the intoxicating effects of the – usually high-proof – alcohol.
3 jars containing cannabis tinctures, each
one made a different way. Today’s article will teach you 4 different ways to make cannabis tinctures, from the most simple (put weed and alcohol together in a jar and shake) to the most automated (make it in a specialized tincture machine). Let’s get started! Keep reading to start making your own tinctures today!

More states legalizing in the US!
|
|
More states are legalizing home cultivation every year Adult-use cannabis sales just launched in Rhode Island, which legalized cannabis earlier this year. The Rhode Island
Cannabis Act allows adults age 21+ to possess up to one ounce in public (or up to 10 ounces at home), home-cultivate (up to six plants, no more than three mature), and purchase limited amounts of cannabis. Learn more about Rhode Island's cannabis laws. Missouri also will be getting legal weed soon: Beginning on December 8, 2022, adults in Missouri will
be permitted to possess up to three ounces of cannabis and home-cultivate up to six flowering plants, six immature plants, and six plants under 14 inches for personal use. Learn more about Missouri's cannabis laws.

One more reason to grow your own!
|
|
Don't buy contaminated weed! Grow your own so you know it's safe. Want another reason to grow your own weed? Homegrown weed is safer! I just saw a news article that stated about 40% of products bought from unlicensed New York City cannabis shops tested positive for contaminants such as E. coli, lead, and salmonella. Wowzers! One of my favorite things about growing your own weed is you know exactly what went into it. It's hard for me to even imagine
how these unlicensed growers are contaminating their weed so badly. Are they storing it next to some bullet-ridden raw chicken or what?! Learn how to start growing your own weed in 10 easy steps

P.S. At 3pm on Saturday before this newsletter went out, I got this image from ChubbNugg showing some gross contamination on buds. I had to share. "Some unreputable bag weed." ~ChubbNugg Yes, that is (aspergillus) mold spores on their weed!!! This is why we grow! ~Nebula

Subject: Sugar Leaves Article "As always, your site is FILLED with spot-on and fabulous information, and it IS appreciated! I’ve used your site/information for years with MANY successful grows! I always trim and sculpt prior to hanging, and I save those trimmings and dry, jar and cure them as I would with my my hanging delectable! After
the cure period, I grind all the trim down, and I VAPE that trim! No harshness, and an incredible high with no mess! 😁 Again, thank you both for ALL that you do for the novice home grower! CHEERS" ~Mike Hey Mike, Glad you enjoyed the article. Thanks for the suggestion and sharing your experience. Vaping is a great way to enjoy more parts of the cannabis plant! That's a great point. I added a little section about vaping to the article in the "what else can I do with sugar leaves?" section towards the bottom. ~Nebula

"Thank you for your going to the conference and letting us know what is going on 😎" ~Chuck Hey Chuck, Thanks for the kind words. I put my heart into making that article and I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it. ~Nebula "Hello!!! I love your newsletter and look forward to it every Sunday. You two are a wealth of info!!!" ~Brad Hey Brad, Yay! I truly appreciate that.

"Is this a mutation or something else? Great White Shark - 30 days old." ~Chris Hey Chris, This is a mutation and an interesting one. When you have mutated seedlings like this, they sometimes grow out of it and start developing normally, but sometimes they stay stunted. Considering this one looks healthy but has stayed this small after 30 days, I'd guess it probably isn't going to ever
develop normally. If it were me, I'd probably pop another seed (though no need to kill this one if you don't want to -- it still may suddenly start growing normally again). ~Nebula

"Hi Nebula & Sirius hope your both doing well! Now that I am a week into curing in mason jars, with my hygrometers and 62% Boveda packs here is what the trichomes look like. Is this a good mixture of the milky to amber ratio for a well balanced head/ body high? How much longer do you need to burp the jars, do
you do this only for the first 7-10 days? Thanks so much, happy growing!" ~H5N2 Hey H5N2, Typically it's recommended to burp the jars daily for at least 14 days. After that, it's never a bad idea to check on them once a week for
another few weeks to make sure the buds still seem dry and smell good (no musty, sour, or yeast smells, which means they must be aired out more). Since you have hygrometers to monitor the humidity and are using Boveda packs to automatically adjust the humidity to 62%, your buds are well-protected and you could probably skip that second step. Even so, I think it's fun to go smell the jars occasionally just to experience how the weed smell improves and changes over
time. Your trichomes look like you harvested your buds at the perfect time for a well-balanced head/body high. Great work! Nebula "LSD strain. Second week flower. Grow medium is leaf compost/worm castings/Coco. Feed Bio Live, seabird guano and laminate." ~ Sticky fingers Hey Sticky fingers. Your plant is piecture perfect. Incredible bud development so early in the flowering stage. You're looking at a great harvest. Please feel free to send us pictures along the way! ~Nebula

That's exactly what I wanted! You get a DM from @DaRealDaVinci42069 offering you a "100% authentic Mona Lisa painting for sale". Sounds too good to be true? It probably is! And also, now that I think about it, that account name seems a little suspicious... Make sure to watch out for scams, especially seed scams! Remember: Real seed businesses don't contact you. They let you contact them. If anyone messages you to sell you seeds on social media, look out! It's possible they will take your payment and send nothing. Always take a second to think before sending money to anyone, especially if they contact you (whether by DM, text message, phone call, email,
etc.). Recommended Cannabis Seed Sources
