Cannabis Light Schedules: Vegetative Stage vs Flowering Stage by Nebula Haze

Click here to view the full article on GrowWeedEasy.com Ahhh! My cannabis plant is huge! Why isn’t it making buds yet? Cannabis is a “photoperiod” plant,
which means the hours of light received each day decides when the plant starts flowering or making buds. Now, learn how much light per day your photoperiod cannabis plants need to grow to the right size, start budding when you want, and produce a great harvest! What about auto-flowering
strains? Vegetative Stage
– 18-24 hours of light a day Flowering Stage – 12 hours light & 12 hours dark a day Daily light schedules control when photoperiod cannabis start making buds (flowering).
|
Quick Summary: Cannabis plants stay in the vegetative stage and keep getting bigger and bigger with long days (18-24 hours a day). Cannabis plants start flowering when you give them long nights (12 hours uninterrupted darkness every day, often called a 12/12 light schedule). Get step-by-step instructions from seed to harvest!
Set the electrical timer to your desired light schedule. Then plug it in and plug your grow light into the timer. A surge protector is not necessary, but also a good idea with any high-powered equipment.
The timer automatically turns your grow lights on and off for you. Convenient for you, and great for your plants!

📸 Weekly Plant Spotlight: Light Schedules Gone Wrong (Re-Vegging)
|
If a photoperiod plant is flowering, and then it starts getting long days again, it actually reverts back to the vegetative stage. This is often called re-vegging or sometimes "monstercropping". When re-vegging happens, all buds die, and the leaves start growing in with round edges. After a few weeks of 18+ hours of light a day, the plant starts growing normal vegetative growth again. Sometimes re-vegging happens by accident. If you see the tell-tale round leaves, you have a re-vegging plant! Sometimes re-vegging happens on purpose. In this example from Jack, a clone was taken from a flowering plant, and it re-vegged as it rooted. Why take a clone from a flowering plant? Sometimes you don't realize you want to keep a cutting from a plant until the flowering stage. Luckily you can still take clones and re-veg the plant. At that point, you have a regular vegetative plant! ~Nebula These are cuttings I received from a flowering Gelato 33. They had budlets on the tops that died off as they rooted! You can see the twisting new growth and canoeing older top leaves. My first experience with
revegging. ~Jack

This picture shows the bud that was initially forming before the stem was cloned. The bud died off as the clone rooted and re-vegged.

cannabis can be a relaxing hobby in and of itself, but it also saves you money and keeps you from having to deal with shady characters. Cannabis is much easier to grow than people give it credit for, and growing in water doesn't increase the difficulty much, if any.
