Introduction: 5 Tips for Growing Autoflowering Marijuana Strains for Yields & THCToday I’m going to share 5 tips for growing autoflowering cannabis strains to get bigger yields and more THC. Here’s the strategy I use to consistently produce massive top-shelf autoflowering harvests. First, I start with good quality autoflowering cannabis seeds to ensure strong, fast-growing seedlings.
I give autoflowers proper care and nutrients according to their needs (outlined in this tutorial).
About 2-3 months after germination, you can enjoy a massive autoflowering harvest.

Grow Journal Update: Auto-Flowering Plants Got Topped and Tucked! Here the plants are 23 days old from germination.
So far the plants received water and nutrients, but were otherwise left alone. But today, that changed... Today I did something controversial. Since they're growing fast and healthy, I "topped" each seedling. With autos, ideally this happens when they're ~3 weeks old, before they start making buds. Topping means to cut off the top of the plant through the main stem.
Topping helps the plants naturally grow more bushy, with lots of branches (and therefore lots of bud sites). Here is a closeup of one of the tops that is about to be cut off.
Here it is that same plant after being topped. I just use my fingernails to pierce through the main stem. The arrow points to the stem that remains behind. The two little stems below are going to grow into two new main stems.
Here are some of the tops in hand. This is how much I removed from each plant. With auto-flowering plants, you want to take as little as possible while still getting a clean cut through the main stem.
Why is it controversial to top autoflowering plants? Many growers say, "Never do it!" because topping risks the chance of stunting your autoflowers. And it's true you should be careful. When in doubt, it's better to
leave them alone. However, I've tried growing autoflowers with and without topping and the results were clear. See my side-by-side experiment: Topped vs Natural Autoflowering Plants The topped autoflowering plants not only yielded more and
grew denser buds than their untopped counterparts, but their buds also tested at higher THC in the lab! Learn more about topping autoflowering seedlings. Summary: I've found topping works well for autoflowering plants as long as
the seedlings are healthy, fast-growing, and haven't started flowering yet. Leaf Tucking: Explained Lastly, I did a good leaf tucking. What that means is I took all the biggest fan leaves and tucked them to expose the lower stems to light. Getting light to these lower stems encourages them to grow. That helps the plant grow wide and bushy with lots of "tops" (bud
sites).
With the big leaves tucked under, almost all the lower stems are getting direct light. Perfect!
Here's what they look like after being topped and tucked. All those little growing tips exposed to the beautiful light!
By next week, plants should have about tripled in size, and we may even have some flowers forming! Stay tuned! Nebula
