How to Water a Seedling in a Big Pot by Nebula Haze Tired of weird germination methods? Start your cannabis seeds directly in the final container to simplify the beginning of your grow. However, it’s easy to overwater seedlings in a big pot, so growers must water cannabis seedlings carefully to avoid
overwatering. Follow the watering instructions in this tutorial to water cannabis seedlings in a big pot (like this) so they grow fast and healthy!
Learn how to grow happy, healthy seedlings even in a big container!
Quick summary: The key to watering cannabis seedlings in a big pot is to give just a little water at a time, and not too often. Once a seedling grows bigger, it drinks more and can be watered normally.
Today’s article explains exactly what to do, and includes the exact seedling watering schedule that I use. Water seedlings in a small circle around the base.
What do you want to know about auto-watering pot bases? Hit REPLY and tell us! We've been getting tons of feedback and questions about the AC Infinity auto-watering pot bases we're using in our current grow journal. These bases hold a reservoir of water, which plant roots can access via wicking ropes.
This is my first grow with them, and I wasn't too impressed at first. But I see the light now. My plants are loving them! I think my biggest issue was the instructions from AC Infinity weren't great. It took a little trial and error to get them to wick properly. But I've figured it out now, and want to help other growers use them right. So I'd love to hear your
questions and thoughts. Hit REPLY and ask your auto-watering pot questions or share your experiences. We read every email!
Need a carbon filter for a tiny space? If you've ever tried growing in a little grow tent (like this little grow cube), one of the hardest things is how to filter the smell in such a small space?
The problem is most carbon filters are HUGE, and exhaust fans are typically pretty large too. I wanted to share something I stumbled across on Amazon. I found a small all-in-one carbon filter plus fan unit that's less than 9" long. Now, this would not be powerful enough for a full sized grow, but I've been using it with a this mini grow tent and it's actually been
working great! Not even a hint of weed smell outside the tent. That little black unit is a filter AND fan, all-in-one. Just hang it in an exit port, facing out, and turn it on.
They're weirdly cheap, too, compared to a normal filter and fan. I can see there are only 17 of the "fan-filter units" left. I've never seen an item like this before, so if you want one, make sure to get it!
Week 6: "Sweet Dreams" Photoperiod Seedlings Check out the full grow journal! Our lovely 36-day old plants at the beginning of Week
6...
... and at the end of Week 6. Our tent is almost filled!
This week was the first time we did any plant training besides just tucking leaves. This week included a defoliation session (removing leaves) and we also bent over some tall stems and tied them down. Finally did some training this week!
Learn about this week's ups and downs, including... - a pH problem and how I fixed it
- troubleshooting the auto-watering pot bases
- snapping a stem on the Candy Games (it survived!)
- a surprising moment with the Fox Farm nutrient trio
- an awesome plant training session
- and more!
Check out the full week 6 entry to see everything that happened. Happy growing, Nebula Haze GrowWeedEasy.com P.S. Is anyone interested in grow light measurements? (Things like PPFD, DLI, PAR, etc.) Should I dust off all my light meters?
Some ideas, do these sound cool to you? - Test light meters against each other - We've got every kind of light meter, from an Apogee MQ-500 PAR meter to cheap lux meters to free phone apps. I thought it might be cool to test how they compare against each other with different grow lights.
- Test different grow lights - In addition to the HLG 350 LED in this
journal, we have multiple models of Spider Farmer, Mars Hydro, HLG, and a few other brands laying around the grow room from past grows. I thought maybe we could do comparisons with the meters?
REPLY with what you want to see as far as light measurements, so I can make it happen for you!

"These girls just came down. I always lollipop and open up the plants (spread) using a net so light can get down deeper, bending and tying down where necessary. I want them nice and flat across the top. This grow included a white widow, cherry pie, og kush and northern lights." ~Jennifer Hey, there are a couple of cool dudes hiding in this beautiful forest! I bet it looks really cool from their angle, too. Great job! 🏆 ~Sirius
