Crazy Seed Scams: From $75,000 Seeds to Immortal Plants by Nebula Haze These fake "magical" cannabis seeds are selling right now on legitimate online platforms... and people are actually buying them. (Learn which cannabis strain breeders can be trusted) Recently, I came across this hilarious post about overpriced seeds on our cannabis growing forum, and had to share screenshots of some of these
crazy seed scams. Title: Overpriced seeds "Share your finds. This one takes the cake." ~Going2fast started the thread with this mind-boggling example of scam cannabis seeds for sale online. Euphoria Continuum Bud - Scam Listing Says... - Price:
Only $5000 today, on sale for half off! (note from Nebula Haze: the average cost of real cannabis seeds is about $10/seed)
- Statistics: 53.38% THC (note: modern strains are typically between 20-30% THC)
- Effects: Last up to 20 hours (note:
cannabis effects usually subside within a few hours)
Too good to be true? YES! 100% scam. Euphoria Continuum Bud - 100% Scam!
Gingerbeard remarks, "Dab, you fools! Dab!" Haha, it's a funny comment yet I have to agree that if you're looking for 54% THC, you need to be looking at using concentrates like dabs. Oh wait, apparently 54% THC isn't enough of a lie for some scam cannabis seed sources. Rwise took the game and kicked it up a notch with "Never Dies Cannabis Plant". Never
Dies Cannabis Plant - Scam Listing States: - Price: Just $75,000 for 10 seeds ($7,500 per seed?!?!)
- Statistics: 87.62% THC (apparently buds are essentially just THC crystals)
- Plant NEVER dies (the first known case of true immortality)
Pass on to your grandkids? My favorite line in this scam description is this cannabis plant will "outlive you even if your just 18 years old today."
🤣 Never Dies Cannabis Plant - 100% Scam!
Multiverse God Bud - Scam Listing Says... - Price: On sale for only $600...per seed! (Must buy 10 at a time)
- From the Multiverse: They claim this strain arrived from outer space, frozen on a meteor that was sent by a parallel version of the breeder thousands of years in the future.
- From the Future: It's notable that
despite it being from the future year of 4023, this strain actually has less THC (66%) than the "Never Dies" strain above it (87%). Hmmm, I guess the "Never Dies" cannabis plant didn't actually make it to the future.
Don't worry, they're sending 24 seeds back into space in case an Asteroid destroys Earth. Multiverse God Bud - Somehow 108% Scam!
Note: I am not linking to any of these seed listings because I don't want to accidentally send them extra traffic. But for the curious, check out the original forum post to see the live listings for yourself. I think No3odiesShad0w summed it up best: "🤣🤣🤣🤣Gucci seeds. Ppl that buy these seeds def think they're magical beans, with super powers to grow great bud all by themselves, because you threw thousands of dollars at it." Check out the full forum post

5 Red Flags of Cannabis Seed Scams
|
|
Here are 5 common red flags that a particular listing for online cannabis seeds may be a scam.
|
- Unknown breeder. Stick to a proven, trustworthy seed breeder where you can easily find lots of examples of their seeds being grown online. Even if someone is selling real cannabis seeds, you don't know what to expect (especially as far
as growth and bud quality) if they haven't been tested and documented by other home growers.
- Seeds for sale by private message - Someone messaged you about the seeds on social media, or you see someone selling seeds in the comments, but you don't know for sure who they are. Avoid these types of deals. From speaking with our readers, direct message sales may be the most common source of growers actually getting scammed for seeds. There are so many better sources
of seeds that give you more control and selection.
- Seller only accepts cash or cashier's check - Back in the day (like the 80s, 90s, and 2000s), it was common to pay for seeds by mail via these methods, and there really weren't many alternatives. However, these days, most seed sellers accept
regular payment including credit cards. It is a huge red flag if they won't accept any regular forms of payment. Credit cards are safe to use to buy seeds online, as are modern online payment methods from a proven seed vendor. Never send cash in an envelope.
- Unbelievable claims - Like the examples
above, if the claims are out of this world (like "these seeds are from outer space") or have impossible THC percentages (like "50% THC"), then you can be certain the seller is lying. Cannabis plants take 2-5 months to grow and then the plants are harvested. Max THC for real cannabis buds sits somewhere around 30-35% of total dry
weight. In reality, 18-28% THC by weight is most common for modern cannabis strains. Higher percentages require concentrates. Buds can appear green, purple, pink, red, or yellow, but are never blue.
- Extreme pricing - Whether too cheap, or too expensive, be wary. Cannabis seeds typically cost
about $10/seed, with limited selections of cheaper seeds. I've seen legitimate seeds of impressive lineage go for as much as $20/seed, but it's rare for cannabis
seed prices from legitimate sources to climb much higher.
In summary, follow the evidence, learn from other growers, and use a healthy dose of skepticism before making your next seed purchase. But after all that craziness, what do normal cannabis seeds actually look like? Real
cannabis seeds look like this.

What Are “Feminized” Cannabis Seeds?
|
|
Why should every home grower start with “feminized” cannabis seeds? It saves time and money, prevents seedy buds, and maximizes yields for an efficient home cannabis grow. Every feminized seed grows buds (check out my review of feminized Blue Dream).
|
Feminized cannabis seeds are created to ensure that all the resulting cannabis plants are female. This is extremely convenient for home growers. Why? Because only female cannabis plants make buds. "Regular" (or non-feminized) seeds will produce about half male, and half female plants. Having male plants can be an asset to a breeding program, but having to watch over and throw away half the plants can feel like a waste of time and space for growers who just want to grow their own supply of bud. By starting your grow with feminized cannabis seeds, you can stop worrying about male plants altogether and know that every one of your plants will be
female and make buds. Learn all about feminized seeds (including what to look out for and how to make them at home!)

Bag Seed vs Hype Seed: Is it worth it to buy cannabis seeds?
|
|
You found some cannabis seeds (also known as “bagseed”, “bag seed”, or “found seeds”). Yay! Should you grow them? How important are the seeds you start with, really? Sometimes growers get lucky. For example, my friend grew seeds she found in a bag of weed, and they produced the following
excellent quality bud. The starting weed was not purple... so that was a surprise.
|
Unpredictability is the biggest downside to growing with seeds you find in your weed. I have seen incredible grow results with bag seed, like the plant pictured above. And the higher the quality of the starting weed, the greater the chance the seeds will produce quality buds, too. That being said, bag seeds can come with challenges like poor bud
quality, low germination rates, the potential for hermies, and unpredictable growth patterns. Using random cannabis seeds (even from dank bud) can produce unexpected results. Plants may grow wild or produce small airy buds with low potency, even if the original weed was dense and
potent. Poor Quality Seeds = Confidence Killer!
Pros of Using "Bag Seed" (seeds you find in your weed) - Seeds are free - Buying cannabis seeds can get expensive, especially if you want to grow a lot of plants from different strains.
- Easy & fast - You already have seeds in hand, so you don't need to research strains or wait for seeds to get shipped to you.
- Can produce
great bud if seeds came from strong genetics. Many growers get lucky and produce beautiful plants with bag seeds. It's also possible to discover unique genetics or traits.
- Experimentation - You can freely germinate and experiment with free seeds without wasting expensive seeds.
Cons of Using Bag Seed - Bud quality may not be as good as the weed it came in.
- Potential for poor
germination rates if seeds were not stored properly.
- Unpredictable growth patterns - For example, plants may get tall or take a long time for buds to mature before harvest.
- Up to half of seeds may grow male plants - Plants may be male or female, but only female plants
produce buds. It's hard to tell the difference at first. Feminized seeds only grow female (bud-producing) plants.
- Hermie plants are common - Hermies produce seedy buds, which is often how seeds got in your bud in the first place.
- Seeds could be half hemp - Sometimes you get seeds because the buds were pollinated by non-potent hemp plants. This is especially common in areas where hemp is grown outdoors.
See the effects of genetics
on bud development. These strains were grown in identical conditions, yet... - The green plant produced almost double the yields, but buds tested at only 14% THC at the lab.
- The purple plant produced smaller yields but the buds were denser, smoother to smoke, and almost twice as potent at 26% THC. Less weed, but better weed.
The only difference was genetics. When you buy seeds, you can choose the buds you want instead of
the results being left to luck.

Weekly Spotlight: What are Triploid Cannabis Strains & Should Growers Care?
|
|
What if you could make sure your next cannabis harvest was faster, with bigger, more potent buds? What if you could guarantee every marijuana plant was seedless, and never experience herms or unwanted "bananas" growing on buds ever again? Are "triploid" genetics the future of cannabis breeding? (This is OG Triploid Auto)
|
Some growers believe that cannabis cultivation is about to experience a revolution in breeding. This belief is based on an agricultural breeding technique that gave us gifts like seedless watermelons and bigger, tastier bananas. This same technique can be used on cannabis plants. Although more research is needed to fully understand the
implications of triploidy for cannabis cultivation, the results so far are encouraging... Welcome to the New World of Triploid Cannabis Genetics
